It’s da Italian neighborhood feel
like whena we were walkin down sideawalks
smellin spagetti with freasha sauce through da windows
aint nuttin like authentic, homemade food
you know, whena butter is real butter and a tomato isa fresh
Now imma gonna tell you, we lika Fat Rickys pizza.
If you didn’t knowa Elmwood Park in them days
I feel sorry for ya, you missed out on what good food was
like old Johnnies beef with biga fat Al piling it on high
and Biancalana’s serving da traditional, white garlic dressing
before they turned ‘banquet’ up.
Itsa shame everythin changes ya know
but gotta say da ol boys ain’t in charge anymore
so don’t haveta worry about da back rooms
talka as loud as ya want now and enjoya good meal
in udder words, nuttins gonna happen if
you don’t order from Fat Ricky’s, know what ima sayin?
No one isa gonna breaka your arm or busta your nose
but if ya want da taste of the good ol times
good food and drink, da proper way of pizza
ima tellin you dis is it and where I come from
our word is whata promise is but remember,
don’t eva discuss business at table!

One of the coolest blogs I’ve ever seen. Combining poetry with food…that’s terrific.
