La Cocinita Restaurant

La Cocinita Restaurant
1625 Chicago Ave, Evanston, IL 60201

A food truck turned restaurant, from the streets of New Orleans to downtown Evanston,
La Cocinita has brought Latin American Street food with a twist that’s Venezuelan
From arepas and cachapas, to Mexican tacos and tamales, the flavor gave the people of New Orleans and Chicago a satisfied grin,
but first, let me explain the way LaCocinita came to begin…

Owners Chef Benoit and Rachel Angulo were inspired to start a food truck that would satisfy the late-night crowd,
and with Benoit’s Venezuelan speciality of making arepas since he was 9 years old, his gift of cooking was enough to make Rachel proud,
and that was the start of their food truck in New Orleans,
fast forward to 6 years later, it’s fame made a name that moved to Chicago, and by all means,
it’s a lesson to show you to never give up on your dreams!

A gem in downtown Evanston, La Cocinita Restaurant is a small restaurant that shouldn’t be passed by,
with every option, the quality and freshness from the ingredients has to be glorified!
Most importantly, everything is flavorful and that’s exactly what makes it so distinct from the rest,
and with many Latin inspired restaurants throughout the city, both Diana and I would have to say that La Cocinita is by far the best!
Each bite had us closing our eyes and nodding in approval to each item’s taste,
from the cornmeal patties stuffed with meat and cheese Arepas, to tacos, empanadas, and tamales,
nothing went to waste!

La Cocinita’s food is outstanding, outstanding, and I have to say it again, OUTSTANDING,
from a food truck in New Orleans, to it’s Evanston restaurant, it’s no surprise for it expanding!
From the minute you finish it’s distinctive food you’ll most likely do like us and tell everyone you know…
That they have to try La Cocinita, to savor food that will without a doubt, WOAH!

High-end food trucks, basically restaurants on wheels are big here in Silicon Valley. My apartment complex has a different one every night. They do good business because people work long hours. I haven’t seen anything Venezuelan like this. It looks great. They would do really well here.
